What’s Your Why?

What’s Your Why?

“People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it. And what you do simply proves what you believe” -Simon Sinek

What drives you? What is the reason you get up in the morning and work hard every day? Is it for your family, is it to make your rent payment, or is it because you have a burning desire in you to be the absolute best? This is our why, once we figure out our why, we understand the what and the how. Simon Sinek gives a great TED talk about our why, our why drives us. Within organizations he says we know what they do and how they do it but we do not understand the why. If you think of yourself as an organization, you know what you do and how you do it but have you ever thought of why we do it?

My why stems deep from within, my mom is my why. She drives me to be successful and work as hard as I can to become successful. She drives me and always tells me I will be successful, so I can’t let her down. The happiest day for will becoming this May not because she doesn’t have to help me pay my expensive college tuition anymore (thank you mom) but because she knows this is just the first step of many for my future successes. Every day I wake up and thank the Lord for the opportunity I have that day to make my mom proud. I know that the little hours of sleep I get working on projects will be worth it because the determination I have is more than most college students. The fire inside me is strong and the will burns deep within me.

Everyone should work every day to figure out their own why. Once you find your why you find your purpose in life. That why changes person to person and even changes throughout the years. Nothing is wrong with a changing why it means were growing and our lives are changing. Every day you need to take steps forward trying to make that why proud of you. I promise once you figure out your why you will get the burning desire to become the best there is. The why is the real game changer in life, it will take you to the next level. I would love everyone to comment and tell me their why. When you write down your goals or your why, when your brain psychological sees the words instead of imagining the words in your head, your brain then tells yourself you can do it.
